1.What are you most passionate about professionally? Personally?

Professionally  – Doing the job right first time after genuinely listening to the problem.  And, Education and knowledge sharing in the field of Occupational Health and Safety, and Environmental global issues.

Personally – Education of children and learners in understanding their own safety and security in schools, homes etc.  Safe children!

2. What would you do even if you didn’t get paid to do it?

Train people, educate people on HSE issues and to look for ways of improving lives by reducing risks.

3. What are you surprisingly good at?

I think genuinely listening and empathy.  I think also being a team leader who puts my team first.

4. What’s the biggest proof that you’re good at what you do?

Biggest proof are my team members from years gone by – to this day, even after years of not working with them, they still contact me for advice.

5. How long have you been working in your field?

Studying in the field from 1998 (19 years)  and working in the field from 2001 (16 years)

6. What’s your biggest accomplishment?

Professionally – Masters Degree in Environmental Management and successfully working with companies to get accredited to ISO standards and findings gaps in their management systems.Personally – an amazing and loving family

7. How does your education connect to your professional career? What about personal experiences?

There is a direct connection – I studied what I practice and I continue to study and learn everyday about issues pertaining to Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental.

The value of my work experiences supersede my theoretical training when applying Occupational Health, Safety and Environment in an operational and hazardous environment.  Seeing staff get, understand and then implement Health and Safety excites me, working with them to find ways to make implementation practical, excites me.

Having experienced serious incidents and fatalities emotionally wrecks me but it is also the opportunity to learn more to prevent re-occurrence.

8. What problems do you consistently solve for your clients?

Closing their knowledge gaps in Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental understanding, operational risk management, improving the compliance, continuous improvement on their journey to excellence in the field of Occupational Health, Safety and Environment.

9. What are you complimented on most in your work?

Attention to detail, excellence, consistent feedback and follow up.

10. Who is your ideal client and why should they connect with you?

Ideal clients – Clients within the energy sectors and (2) Businesses who are wanting to “Up their game” who want to be serious about their staff and customer’s health and Safety.  They should connect with me because I work with the client to give them customized solutions.
